Recently, YWIES Tongxiang successfully concluded the "Math Planet Explorers" festival, aimed at sparking students' interest in math and developing their mathematical thinking and creativity.
The event kicked off with an engaging math magic show that highlighted the charm of mathematics using binary code tricks. Students then entered the "Interdisciplinary Planet Camp," where they used their imagination and math skills to solve real-world problems across six challenge stations, including Cipher Canyon, Composer's Challenge, Bridge Dreams, Shadow Art, Pirate Treasure Hunt, and 24-Point Team Battle.
In the free exploration area, students created mandala patterns at the π Workshop, appreciating the art of math; visited the Mathematician Gallery to hear inspiring stories; tackled the Thinking Challenge Wall to enhance logical skills; and experienced the fascinating blend of AI and math, witnessing the power of technology.
At the closing ceremony, teams showcased their exploration achievements and summarized their acquired "math superpowers" using mind maps. Awards like "Best Logic" and "Most Creative" were presented to encourage ongoing exploration in math learning.
The math festival, based on the PBL learning model, focused on developing students' multiple intelligences by integrating technology like AR and robotics, along with traditional cultural elements such as poetry and paper cutting, offering a unique math experience. After the event, students were encouraged to write math journals or complete family challenges to incorporate mathematical thinking into daily life and continuously enhance their math skills.
