    • "Aligning with Culture and Arts" is one of Yew Wah's three missions, and art education is also an essential part of our holistic education. For students with artistic talents who wish to pursue further studies in professional art schools overseas, we provide rich courses and high-quality resources to help them improve their academic level and artistic attainments, and apply to their ideal art schools abroad.

      Our graduates have been admitted to many of the world's top art schools, such as Parsons School of Design, Rhode Island School of Design, School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Savannah College of Art and Design, and University of the Arts London.

      This characteristic has unique significance for YWIES Tongxiang. As we all know, Tongxiang has a fashion industry chain with a production value of over 100 billion yuan, which has a huge demand for high-end fashion design talents. Against this background, YWIES Tongxiang has gradually introduced fashion design courses from 2021 onwards, providing students with more professional choices to meet their personalized needs.

      We are thrilled to announce the launch of our new 「Art +」fashion design course in the upcoming academic year. This course is designed to shape students' creativity, deepen their cultural understanding, and promote innovative learning projects that unleash their personal potential in all aspects.

      We are proud to have Mr David Leung, our Director of Fashion Design and a world-renowned designer, leading this course. As the first Chinese designer of "Versace" and a guest professor at Parsons School of Design in New York, Mr Leung brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to YWIES Tongxiang. He will personally work with both Primary and Secondary students throughout the next academic year, providing them with a master-level fashion design learning experience.

      Fashion Teacher: Mr David Leung

      Working directly with Gianni Versace, and designed the iconic “Medusa” logo for the world-renowned Italian brand;

      Adjunct Professor at Parsons School of Design, the Fashion Institute of Technology, Kent State University Fashion School and New York University Steinhardt Graduate School;

      Creative Consultant for China Institute Fashion Design Competition, and Supima Cotton Fashion Design Competition.

      Under Mr. David Leung’s guidance, students will learn to appreciate, experience, and create beauty, developing their own aesthetic language from unique and profound dimensions. Parents can look forward to end-of-semester exhibitions showcasing the incredible work produced by our students. We are excited to see the creativity and growth this course will inspire.

      1. Art+, A Hall That Inspires Unlimited Creativity

      The「Art +」fashion design course is not just about clothing design, but also a creative platform that inspires students' imagination, promotes self-expression, and enhances their confidence. Through this course, students will explore the infinite possibilities of the fashion world from a unique and creative perspective under the guidance of their mentors, breaking free from traditional frameworks.

      Mr David Leung stated that the reason why he was willing to leave Parsons to devote himself to international high school art education was that he found more and more Chinese faces appearing in the world's top art schools such as Parsons in the United States and Central Saint Martins in the UK. He observed that these Chinese college students worked very hard, especially in professional skills such as sketching and sewing, leaving a deep impression on people. However, most of them have a problem: once they stand on the podium and present their works to the public, they often appear timid, possibly due to language barriers or the fear that their works are not good enough, making it difficult for them to tell a touching story. Therefore, he hopes that art students can find themselves and bravely express themselves on the world stage.

      2. Practical Skills for A Worry-Free Career

      In addition to theoretical knowledge, the course also emphasizes the cultivation of practical skills. Students will master practical skills such as fashion illustration, sewing, fabric processing, 3D cutting, and garment production. These skills not only add fun to their daily lives but also provide them with broad career choices for their future.

      Previously, in Mr David Leung's "Nature + Fashion" class, he introduced natural elements such as "branches", "leaves", "flowers", and "roots" and led students to apply these elements to clothing design.

      In a practical class with the theme of "Once upon A Rose", students participated in the clothing design and printing and dyeing process. In this process, they created a petal evening gown and used techniques such as Shibori dyeing. These practical classes not only enriched students' design skills, but also allowed them to gain a deeper understanding of the application and value of natural elements.

      3. English Proficiency for International Communication

      The「Art +」fashion design course will also provide students with rich English learning resources. By accessing the latest information and English materials from the international fashion industry, students' English language proficiency will be significantly improved, laying a solid language foundation for their future international communication and cooperation.

      4. Multi-Dimensional Development Beyond Fashion Itself

      The course is not only limited to the teaching of fashion design skills, but also focuses on the comprehensive improvement of students' overall quality. In the learning process, students will develop critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and the ability to make reasonable decisions. At the same time, the study of fashion history will lead students through time and space, allowing them to appreciate the style of designers from different eras, inspiring them to be innovative and constantly break through themselves.

      5. Cross-Cultural Communication to Enhance Global Perspectives

      Fashion, as a language without borders, is a bridge that connects different cultures and traditions. The「Art +」fashion design course guides students to learn fashion trends from around the world, cultivating their respect and understanding of diverse cultures and laying a solid foundation for their international perspectives.

      6. Green Fashion Pioneers with Environmental Integration

      While pursuing fashion, the course actively advocates the concept of sustainable fashion, guiding students to pay attention to environmental protection and learn how to make fashionable choices that are both beautiful and environmentally friendly. Through this course, students will establish a sense of responsibility towards the environment and become leaders in the future of green fashion.

      With the start of the new school year, we are full of anticipation for the upcoming 「Art +」fashion design course. This is not just a journey of deep knowledge transmission, but also a brilliant stage for mutual inspiration and creative sparks.
